Impromptu Healey Drive
October 18 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Come join Diane and me on a nice and easy swing on Minneapolis’ Grand Round. We drive this often when we do not want to spend the time getting out of town to hit the country roads. Finally, the parkways are open. Over the past four years there were detours and closures due to the reconstruction of the 10th Avenue bridge and the light rail fiasco at Cedar Lake.
Gather at the overlook parking area a block or so south of Ford Parkway on Mississippi River Blvd in St Paul.
The drive will cover a large percentage of the Grand Round — Minneapolis’ parkway jewel. We will enjoy 30+ miles in three or so hours.
There will be a lunch stop at Pryes Brewing Company at the halfway point. They have a good light menu (check their website) and an extensive brew selection.
After lunch we will continue on to Victory Memorial Drive and the a quick “pit stop” at the Theadore Wirth Chalet before heading through the Chain of Lakes. Then a cruise along Minnehaha Parkway back to our starting point.
This will be a very enjoyable outing. The weatherman tells us the leaves will be showing good color at near peak, temp in the 70s, mostly sunny with everyone in a line of British. This may be the last opportunity to drive with your top down before putting the car to sleep for the season.
See you at the Ford Parkway overlook. Leaving at 11. Questions?? Geoff at 612 822 7069. No texts.
